STEER CLEAR OF CAR CRIMES
Please do make your family, friends and neighbours aware there is a spate of car crime in our rural areas. Please tell them to empty property from vehicles especially TOOLS! - anything on view! When parked anywhere remember a lot of vehicle crime is the result of criminals seeing opportunities and taking them. Remove the temptation - even an old coat on the back seat is a target for someone to smash a window and grab it. Don't leave anything on display. If you have to leave items in your car, put them out of sight at the start of your journey. Never leave the following items on display as they are all particularly attractive to thieves:
Mobile phones
Laptop computers
Credit and debit cards
Cheque books
Cash
Vehicle registration documents
Private mail, especially with your address on it
Tools
Satellite navigation equipment
More information can be found at the following web site www.secureyourmotor.gov.uk This is the most frequent crime we have in our rural Parishes please be vigilant and pass on anything suspicious or any information to Sussex Police.
Please do not buy from door to door sellers and always report immediately to Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999. Please also remind the old and vulnerable to be vigilant. Door to door sellers are illegally selling goods if they do not have a hawkers licence issued by Lewes District Council
