The Chailey Commons Fencing Project has commenced and will receive the majority of its funding from Natural England through the Countryside Stewardship Scheme. Allowing the grazing of sheep, cattle and possibly ponies will help to restore this nationally important heathland habitat. The first phase of the project includes fencing Red House Commons and will end in March. The second phase is planned to start in September 2011 and will see fencing placed around Memorial, Pound and Romany Ridge Commons. The fencing will include gates and a number of cattle grids to allow public access.

ESCC DRAFT WASTE AND MINERALS PLAN- CONSULTATION
Have your say on how to deal with waste and minerals

ESCC have completed their review of the need for land fill and land raise and the alternatives that would reduce this need.
The revised Waste and Minerals Plan responds to the widespread concern about land disposal generally, and to comments on specific areas of search for land disposal identified in the previous consultation.

The five areas of search in the Low Weald identified in the previous consultation have now been investigated and it is found that there is no real opportunity to develop a land disposal site in these areas and elsewhere in East Sussex.

After recognising peoples people's concerns a draft plan has been drawn up to avoid the use of landfill or landraise in East Sussex and instead focusing on increasing recycling and recovery of our waste.

The draft plan may be viewed at http://consult.eastsussex.gov.uk/portal
