The Council has installed three defibrillators in the Parish. These life saving machines are now available for use.

Senior Citizens Christmas Party

The Senior Citizens Christmas Party will take place at Chailey Parish Hall on Saturday 2nd December 2017 from 12.30 pm to 5.00 pm. Entertainment and transport will be provided.

Completion of the audit for 2016/17

The audit of the Council's accounts for the year ended 31st March 2017 has been completed. The External Auditor's report and certificate has been signed by them: they have confirmed that there are no matters coming to their attention which give cause for concern or to which attention needs to be drawn.

New Chairman for the Council

At the Annual Meeting of the Council held on 16th May 2017 Ken Jordan was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Council for the coming year. He takes over from Mark Evans who did not seek re-election as Chairman, although he remains as a Councillor.

The Council's budget and the precept for 2017/18

The Parish Council has agreed its budget for the financial year starting on 1st April 2017. It has also agreed the amount of the Council Tax precept to be levied by the Parish Council for 2017/18.

Operation Signature – protecting those at risk of fraud

Recently the Clerk attended a conference where one of the presentations given was from Sussex Police. The main purpose of the presentation was to publicise the existence of Operation Signature. Operation Signature is all about helping to protect those who are most vulnerable to losing money through fraud. Its aim is to identify and support vulnerable victims of fraud in Sussex.

Queen's Jubilee Map

To celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee in 2012, the Parish Council commissioned an illustrated map of our village in sufficient numbers to allow a copy to be distributed to each household.

Marking of Residential Frontage onto Highway

It seems that some residents may wish to mark out their frontage with rocks, logs, or other objects. There has recently been an increase in such cases.

Chailey Common - Dog Waste

Many residents and visitors who walk dogs on Chailey Common pick up the waste left by their dog. Some do not, and are asked to do so.

Free Service offered by UK Power Networks

UK Power Networks (who own and maintain the electricity cables and lines across London, the South East and East of England) have drawn the Council’s attention to their free Priority Services Register for those who may need more support in the event of a power cut.

Sheep may Safely Graze - on Chailey Green?

Our website now includes images of the many historic postcards which are held at the Windmill Rural Life Museum. One postcard of the Reading Room with sheep & cattle is based on an 1898 painting by William Sidney Cooper, who was a well-known Kentish artist.  The Parish Council would be interested to discover where the original painting is now kept. Can any of our readers help?
