A vacancy has arisen on the Parish Council following the resignation of a Councillor.

Small Grants 2018

Each year the Parish Council invites applications from local organisations who are interested in receiving a small grant from the Council. The opportunity to participate in the 2018 round of applications is now open. The closing date for the receipt of applications is 30th June 2018 and applications will be considered by the Council at its meeting on 17th July 2018.

National Rural Crime Survey

The Council has been advised that the latest National Rural Crime Survey has been launched. All are invited to participate in the survey.

The 2018 Annual Parish Meeting - don't miss it!

The 2018 Annual Parish Meeting will be held at the Parish Hall on Friday 11th May at 7.30 pm. All those attending are invited to arrive from 7.00 pm onwards to enjoy light refreshments. All residents of Chailey are warmly invited to attend.

Dementia Friendly Cinema

The Council has received information about an initiative at the Depot in Lewes. The Depot is putting on special screenings of films that are designed to be enjoyed by those living with dementia.

Budget and precept for 2018/19

At its meeting on 16th January 2018 the Council agreed its budget for the financial year 2018/19 (starting on 1st April 2018) and also set the precept for that year.

The Defibrillators Have Arrived

The Council has installed three defibrillators in the Parish. These life saving machines are now available for use.

The Parish Council would like to thank all those who joined in the session at the Parish Hall on 23rd November to learn, or be reminded, about CPR and the use of defibrillators such as those now installed in North and South Chailey.

Queen's Jubilee Map

To celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee in 2012, the Parish Council commissioned an illustrated map of our village in sufficient numbers to allow a copy to be distributed to each household.

Marking of Residential Frontage onto Highway

It seems that some residents may wish to mark out their frontage with rocks, logs, or other objects. There has recently been an increase in such cases.

Chailey Common - Dog Waste

Many residents and visitors who walk dogs on Chailey Common pick up the waste left by their dog. Some do not, and are asked to do so.

Free Service offered by UK Power Networks

UK Power Networks (who own and maintain the electricity cables and lines across London, the South East and East of England) have drawn the Council’s attention to their free Priority Services Register for those who may need more support in the event of a power cut.

The Parish Council would like to ensure that all local Clubs and Societies are mentioned in the relevant section of this website. Various Menu Headings list individual societies, organisations and clubs. Obviously, societies remain responsible for their own content.

Sheep may Safely Graze - on Chailey Green?

Our website now includes images of the many historic postcards which are held at the Windmill Rural Life Museum. One postcard of the Reading Room with sheep & cattle is based on an 1898 painting by William Sidney Cooper, who was a well-known Kentish artist.  The Parish Council would be interested to discover where the original painting is now kept. Can any of our readers help?
